12 Passengers Heading For Burial Die In Ebonyi Road Crash

Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Ebonyi, Uche Chukwurah, said the accident involved a shuttle bus and truck.

No fewer than 12 passengers reportedly died in a fatal accident on Tuesday at Ezzillo long the Enugu-Abakaliki Federal Highway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the unfortunate incident, noting that 10 of the victims were women while two were males.

CrossRiverHub gathered that the victims chartered a fourteen (14) seater EBSU bus from Abakaliki to Enugu State to attend a burial.

An eyewitness who spoke to newsmen in Abakaliki said the EBSU bus had a head-on collision with a truck returning from Enugu State.

Confirming the incident, the Sector Commander of FRSC in Ebonyi, Uche Chukwurah, said the accident involved a shuttle bus and truck.

Chukwurah confirmed that the occupants of the bus were fourteen (14), twelve women and two men.

He said that two persons sustained grave injuries from the accident that occurred in the morning hours.

“The accident involved a shuttle bus and truck.14 passengers were involved. 12 died: 10 females and 2 males. The 2 injured are receiving treatment at the hospital,” the sector commander noted.

However, sources said reports the victims were students of Ebonyi State University (EBSU) were false.

The source explained that the passengers had hired the bus for a separate (non-academic) trip.

It was gathered that the passengers, who were mostly women, hired the bus to convey them to an event outside the state believed to be a burial.
