DALLAS – A woman was shot and killed Sunday night in her car near Love Field. Dallas police say she was shot by a man in another car.
But police say it wasn’t road rage and that the man and woman were not strangers.
Police were called to what was originally thought was an accident on Inwood Road, near Lemmon Avenue at 10:30 p.m. A tree and power lines were taken down in the area.
When police got there, they determined it was a shooting, not a crash.
One of the drivers, 29-year-old Chapeera Lee, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, 32-year-old Cortez Nute, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Detectives say that Nute was responsible for the shooting and charged him with murder. They say the two knew each other but did not say how.
A close family friend shared pictures of the mother who leaves behind an 8-year-old child.
Nute has previously been charged with robbery and has a violent history of assaulting another woman back in April.
