About 1,000 Women Grassroots Polling Units Canvassers Mobilisation and Management Team were inaugurated in Akamkpa 1 State Constituency on Thursday to engage in massive mobilisation of women from all the wards and polling units in Akamkpa One State Constituency to ensure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) at all levels in this year’s general elections.
“These canvassers will be our victory army, the army that will dismantle every obstacles of good representation and effective leadership in our dear state Constituency,” the APC Akamkpa One Constituency Candidate Ntufam Okon Owuna, who is also the leader of the party in the Constituency, said at the inauguration of the Women Campaign Council/Polling Units Canvassers Mobilisation and Management Team at Akamkpa.
”This unprecedented move is our most potent weapon against the enemies of the state and the oppressors of the people,” he said.
He said the “well-recruited, tested and trusted canvassers’ will go from house to house in each of the 117 polling units in the state Constituency to tell the people why they must vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President, Senator Bassey Edet Otu for Governorship, Asuquo Ekpenyong for Senate, Onun Dr Emil Inyang for House of Reps and Ntufam Okon Owuna in the 2023 general elections.
“Gathered here today are 1,000 canvassers and Mobilizers representing the 5 Wards in the Constituency. That is 200 canvasser/Mobilizers per each ward across the 117 polling units in Constituency one,” he said.
In his remarks, the APC South Senatorial Candidate, Asuquo Ekpenyong who inaugurated the Mobilizers and Canvassers Management Team said the 2023 general election represents the struggle by the good people of Akamkpa one to ensure APC is deliver from top to bottom.
He commended the people of Akamkpa, especially the women for kick-starting the political revolution that will dismantle the self-serving structures of the other party. According to him women are a very important factor in any Political system as they are good managers of resources even more than men.
He charged the women to rise up and defend the APC and ensure the party comes out victorious in 2023 as the victory will bring so much dividends to Akamkpa Women.
The APC House of representatives Candidate for Akamkpa/Biase Federal Constituency, Onun Dr Emil Inyang assured the women of a place in his representation comes 2023 by God Grace. He charged the newly inaugurated Women Campaign Council to begin work in earnest of mobilizing votes for Tinubu, Sweet Prince Bassey Otu, Asuquo Ekpenyong, Ntufam Okon Owuna and his humble self by going door to door. According to him no woman, no election.
The APC Chapter Chairman of Akamkpa, Raphael Ntui disclosed that the decision to form the Women Campaign Council in Akamkpa Constituency one was out of their desire to ensure women across the 5 political Wards of the Constituency are given critical roles to play in the coming general elections. He said the women are empowered to go into the Communities, villages and mobilise thousands of women to vote APC from Top to bottom.
The inauguration had in attendance wife of the current House of Assembly Member for Akamkpa One, Mrs Margaret Olory, Wife of the House of Assembly Candidate in Akamkpa One, the Chapter Women Leader, Former Chairman of Akamkpa, Hon Clement Itutop, DG of Emil Inyang Campaign Organization, Prof Uti Egbai amongst many others stakeholders.
