Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, has denied one Taiwo Obasanjo, who claimed to be the wife of the former General and apologised on his behalf over his statement on traditional rulers in Oyo State.
PM News reported that the impostor called on the traditional rulers to forgive the former president for asking them to stand up and have their seats like primary school pupils at a function in Oyo State.
Acclaimed Obasanjo’s wife apologised on behalf of former President
In the statement of forgiveness, Mrs Taiwo urged Nigerians and the people of the world to permanently forgive her husband.
But on Monday, September 18, the former said his attention had been drawn to a statement by his wife, adding that his photograph was photoshopped with one Ms Taiwo Martins, the author of the statement.
The former President said:
“For the records, Ms Martins has two children, Jonwo and Bunmi, for Chief Obasanjo, but to say emphatically that she is not his wife nor a member of the Obasanjo family.”
Obasanjo says his former wife is an imposture
The statement from the former president’s office maintained that Taiwo’s posture to be Obasanjo’s wife was false and could be considered an imposture.
It added that no one has the power to make statements on behalf of the Obasanjo family except the former President himself or those delegated to exercise such authority.
Kehinde Akinyemi, special assistant to former President Obasanjo, disclosed in a statement on Monday.
