As the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) house of assembly primaries election draws near, one of the leading aspirant for the Cross River State House of Assembly election representing Calabar Municipality, Barr. (Hon) Ankot Cobham has picked his nomination form at the state secretariat of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking during the consultation with the state women leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Hon. Mrs Florence Inyang and Asst State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Paul Agbo, the Director general (DG) of the Ankot Transformation Movement (ATM 2023) Pastor Cecil Ita in his opening remark thanked the State women leader and State Asst. Publicity Secretary for warmly receiving the team, he officially informed the duo of Hon Ankot’s intention to to represent the people of calabar municipality at the state house of assembly.
He further highlighted the capacity of Hon Ankot, as a former councillor of ward 10, a seasoned politician, legal Practitioner and a two time Chapter Secretary, who has the necessary experience to provide effective representation.
He emphasized on the dare need of a representative like Barr. Hon Ankot Cobham who is popularly known as the Voice of the People and is sure of his ability to bring back transformative and accessible representation to his people.
The State Women leader, Mrs. Florence extolled the capacity of Hon. Barr Ankot Cobham, stating that during his time as a Councillor representing Ward 10, he performed admirably well and he has always been an uncompromising party loyalist and a team player.
She declared that Hon. Ankot is her pet project, hence she can’t start the cooking of a food and stop halfway. Rather she will make sure she cook it to the end, eat it and share the food with the people of Calabar. She declared her total support and blessings for the incoming State House of Assembly member.
Also speaking was the State Asst. Publicity Secretary who identified himself as the Head of Partners of ATM and DG of Renaissance Platform a leading social-political organization poised in making sure the people of Calabar make the right choice in the forthcoming election and dividends of democracy delivered to the electorate after election. Addressing the mammoth crowd who accompanied the frontline aspirant said he is sure that by the grace of God, Hon Ankot will emerge victorious in the Primary election as he is the yearning of the masses.
He admonished the crowd to go back to their various wards and start preparing for the general election by taking part seriously in the voter’s registration exercise that will commence again in April 6.
He said the good thing is that Barr. Ankot is a good and sellable product who will not stress the Party in winning the general election.
In his remarks, the leading aspirant Hon. Ankot thank the state Reps and pledged to represent his people well and speak for them without fear, stressing that he will represent the people and bring the dividends of democracy.
He promised aside his Legislative business to look into the Educational situation of his people by introducing HMB, that is House Member’s Bursary to his Constituents, care for the Party Structure which has been lacking over the years, carry out Small Scale Business Empowerment and above all adequately maintain the elders.
The event at the State Party’s Secretariat had in attendance the ward chairman of ward 10, home ward of the aspirant in person of Prince Ekong Offiong who led the entire ward executive members from ward 10 to honour their own. Also in attendance were 80% of VIPs as far as the party primary is concern,
Chapter Executives members, former and serving councillors pertinently, Hon Prince Edet Omin, Councillor representing Hon Ankot. Renaissance Platform DG, Directors and Partners and also Coordinators & partners of Ankot Transformation Movement, party stalwarts and faithfuls.
Also in attendance were women, youths in their numbers and Nasarawa Community.
The event came to an end with the presentation of the State House of Assembly Expression of Interest Form and Nomination form to Hon. Barr. Ankot Cobham by the the State Organizing Secretary amidst cheers and jubilations from supporters and party faithfuls.
