The National Youth Council of Nigeria, ( NYCN), Cross River State Chapter has backed the zoning of the 2023 Governorship to the Southern Senatorial District of the State.
The umbrella youth body made their position known Thursday, during a well attended stakeholders meeting convened by the State Chairman, Comrade Dan Obo, Jr.
The meeting held at the recently commissioned Youth House located along Murtala Mohammed HighWay, Calabar.
Speaking, the State Chairman maintained that for fairness and equity, the governorship should return to South where the current zoning arrangement begun in 1999.
While appealed to all the political parties to zone their governorship ticket to the South in 2023, Obo however warned that any attempt to jettison zoning will be seriously resisted by the youths.
He said that “as young persons, we are interested in who governs us come 2023, so we have taken a position and are asking political parties to take note. If they don’t abide by our resolution, we will resist them”.

The Councilor of Erei North and Minority Leader of Biase legislative Assembly, Hon Chief Ralph Egwu applauded the NYCN EXCO for driving the process to this point of success while calling on the stakeholders for continuous support in ensuring the back to south Agenda becomes a reality rather than just a mere discussion.
Mrs Nkese Amar Ignis while advising the youth leaders says One thing is to talk and another is to back them up with actions hence the need start moving with the speed of light.

Hon Unoh Inyang in his imputs urges all to fight and stand firm till End irrespective of the hurdles that are likely to be faced.
Amb Chris Lekan via Zoom admonished everyone to stay alert and be conscious of the future and the generation which is one of the main objective of why NYCN was formed.
He commended the efforts of the council in maintaining Peace and order in the state while thriving to achieve more as it concerns the youths and the generation.
Highpoints of the event was the adoption of a resolution with the mandate to produce a southern governor in 2023 gubernatorial elections in cross river state..
These four resolutions were made at the one day stakeholders meeting on Thursday, in Calabar.
The four resolutions reached were:
1. Supporting power returning back to the Southern Senatorial District.
2. Plead with the Organized Labor to suspend the ongoing industrial action
3. Condemning in strong terms, police tear-gasing Calabar road Sweepers.
4. To keep a close watch on the Bakassi Ex-militants agitators who protested.
