In a heartfelt visit to the Nigerian Navy Reference Hospital (NNRH) in Calabar today, the First Lady of Cross River State, Rev. Mrs. Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, extended her sincere appreciation for the hospital’s unwavering commitment to providing prompt, effective, and efficient healthcare services to the citizens of Cross River State.
Accompanied by a delegation including the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Egbe Ayuk, and other high-ranking government officials, Rev. Otu was warmly received by Surgeon Captain D. I. Adebayo, the Commander of NNRH, and the hospital’s dedicated management team.
During her tour of the hospital’s facilities, Rev. Otu interacted with both patients and staff, taking note of the hospital’s high standards of care. She commended the institution for its dedication to upholding quality healthcare for the people of Cross River State.
In her words, she expressed, “I am here to thank you for your effective and efficient health services offered to our people, to strengthen the relationship that had already existed, applaud you for all you’ve been doing and to beg of you that we hope to enjoy a better relationship than we used to have.”
Rev. Otu went on to express her gratitude for the hospital’s prompt response to various critical situations, including the bikers’ carnival accident last year and the assistance provided to destitute citizens. She expressed her pride in the hospital’s accomplishments, stating, “You have the relevant facilities needed for quality service delivery, and in the real sense of the word, we don’t have any business going to any other place, because you have more than enough to take care of us.”
As a token of her appreciation, Rev. Otu presented the hospital with a special souvenir, recognizing its outstanding service and dedication to the well-being of the community.
Surgeon Captain Adebayo, in response, expressed gratitude for Rev. Otu’s visit and reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to providing the best possible care, in line with international best practices, to all patients, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. She emphasized that NNRH is equipped with standard facilities to deliver affordable and reliable healthcare services, highlighting a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital to further enhance healthcare delivery in the state.
Dr. Egbe Ayuk, the Commissioner of Health, praised the pivotal role played by the Nigerian Navy Hospital in the state since its commissioning and urged for a stronger partnership between the hospital and the State Government.
