A young National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member recently expressed his frustration on social media after being assigned to a secondary school where the students were unable to communicate effectively in English.
In a video shared online, the corps member could be seen engaging with the students, attempting to inquire about the whereabouts of the Principal and Vice Principal. However, he encountered a language barrier as the students struggled to respond coherently in English.
Repeatedly, the students conveyed their inability to converse in English, uttering the phrase “No English.”
Undeterred, the NYSC member eventually devised a way to convey his message, overcoming the language barrier.
The incident highlights the challenges some corps members may encounter when posted to schools with language limitations. It underscores the importance of effective communication and adaptability in such situations.
