Nigerian Police Provide Update on Autopsy of Late Singer Mohbad
The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has released a crucial update regarding the ongoing autopsy of the late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad. The update, conveyed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, aims to provide clarity and transparency in the investigation process.
In a statement posted on his verified social media handle, SP Benjamin Hundeyin assured the public that the autopsy is being conducted by some of the country’s foremost forensic pathologists. Importantly, family members of the deceased artist were present during the autopsy, emphasizing the commitment to a thorough and unbiased examination.
Furthermore, the PPRO dismissed any rumors of potential interference in the process by unscrupulous individuals who might seek to obstruct justice. He urged Nigerians to remain calm and patient as they await the results of the autopsy.
Hundeyin wrote, “As assured by the CP (Commissioner of Police), the autopsy was promptly carried out by some of the best forensic pathologists in the country, in the presence of family members. While we await the result, we urge everyone to remain calm and confident in the process. There is absolutely no underhand dealing, as feared by some concerned persons. In the meantime, other aspects of the investigation are progressing well.”
The tragic death of Mohbad on September 12 raised concerns and suspicions, with some pointing fingers at Naira Marley, the owner of Marlian Record Label. Additionally, disputes emerged among his distant relatives regarding his estate shortly after his demise. Many Nigerians also questioned the swift burial of the late singer in Ikorodu, Lagos, the day after his passing. His father explained that this was in accordance with Yoruba customs.
In response to these developments, Nigerian youths have staged peaceful protests to demand justice for Mohbad, reflecting the importance of a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding his untimely death.
This update from the Lagos State Police Command is expected to provide some assurance and clarity to the public as they await the results of the autopsy and the conclusion of the investigation.
