Latest News on NPC Recruitment 2023

The National Population Commission (NPC) has recently provided an important update regarding the Census 2023. They have confirmed that the new date for the national census has not been finalized and will be decided by the Federal Government.

The NPC has expressed its strong commitment to preserving all allocated resources dedicated to the preparation of the Population and Housing Census in 2023. Mr. Darlington Okereke, the NPC’s Federal Commissioner in Ebonyi, emphasized the significance of safeguarding these resources to avoid the need for restarting preparations once a new date is set.

In a breakfast meeting with media executives held in Abakaliki, Mr. Okereke stated, “We also gathered to enlighten you on the next steps forward in light of the postponement of the conduct by the former President.”

He further mentioned that the Commission has already carried out various preparatory activities for the census, including the Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD), pre-tests, and trial census, among others. These activities encompassed recruitment and training of census field staff, procurement and configuration of Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), establishment of ICT infrastructures and logistics support, as well as advocacy and publicity campaigns.

According to Okereke, the most crucial task for the Commission is to ensure the continued relevance of these activities for the successful execution of the 2023 census. By doing so, they aim to prevent the need for restarting preparations, thereby minimizing costs.

In conclusion, Okereke stated, “The Commission has laid a solid foundation for future censuses,” highlighting their commitment to building a strong basis for upcoming census operations.
