The chairman of the ruling APC in Cross River State, Alphonsus Eba has ordered the ward 8 exco in Calabar Municipality to immediately reverse the purported suspension of the commissioner for culture and tourism, Ntufam Ekpenyong Iso.
Eba summoned the ward Exco yesterday for a meeting where he reportedly scolded them and cancelled the suspension.
According to media reports, the ward exco suspended Iso, citing alleged anti party activities.
According to party officials spoken to, Eba said that there was nothing like suspension in the party for now, charging them to retract the announcement of the suspension.
Findings indicated that the ward chairman and secretary used names and signatures for attendance at meeting where they discussed about the commissioner’s suspension.
Our source said they then attached list of attendees to the purported suspension letter.
When contacted, the commissioner said the purported suspension was the handiwork of some evil person in his ward.
“That purported suspension was fake. People who thought that they can become Commissioner through blackmail were behind it
“I am happy that the ward exco during the meeting with the state party chairman yesterday had confessed and dissociated themselves from it.
Iso said, “People who thought that they can become commissioners through blackmail were behind it.
“How can someone who delivered the three polling units in his area massively be seen to do anti-party. A person that has caused the official resignation of two immediate past ward Chairman of PDP and many other key PDP stalwarts before the election be seen to be involved in anti-party activities.
“A person that moved round the ward and beyond with Candidates of the ruling party, using his personal resources for the success of the party be seen to be anti-party.
“A man that has organised many press conferences to debunk the issues of the Ejagham sentiment be seen to be anti-party. Infact it is them that have allowed themselves to be used by the opposition party against me and our party because they know my capacity.”
