Senator Sandy Onor on Thursday emerged the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State.
Sandy contested the election with six other aspirants, Sen. Gershom Basset, Hon.Nkoyo Toyo, Rt. Hon. Daniel Asuquo and Arthur Javis.
Sen. Sandy Onor from Cross River Central polled 236 votes to defeat Sen. Gershom Bassey from Southern Senatorial District who polled 175 in the primary election held on Thursday in Calabar, the Cross River state capital.
The election which was held in the State capital, was conducted in the presence of security.
The election which was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, NEC, and members of the Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria, IPAC, was peaceful, free and fair.

With this development, Sen. ( Prof.) Sandy Onor will face whoever emerges as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress and other parties come 2023.
